Battling the banks!

It's been a strange few days.  Dealing with the bureaucracy that surrounds a death is mind-blowing.  Joint accounts have to be changed, credit cards cancelled and new ones ordered........etc, etc.

Because we are awaiting an inquest, there is currently no proper death certificate for Dick and so doing things like re-registering his car can't be done and at the moment I am trying to work out how to tax the darned thing as the lovely lady from the Veteran's Agency took the tax off the car because it was part of the Mobility Allowance that Dick received!!  All complicated but not insoluble.

I have had a lovely few days, spending them with friends.  Saturday saw me making my way up to Kent with Jules to attend a crop.  It was lovely to see everyone and chat but that is about all I did do........chat.  I managed one 6 x 12 page layout and that was it!  We stayed to have supper with Al (very nice it was too!) and then came home quite late.

Yesterday I spent the day with Nikky.  The purpose was to get my dress made for her party and it is going really well.  I shall got back up again on Friday and hopefully it will then be finished.  It is really pretty and I am thrilled with it.  I am glad to report that her dress is done too.  She is horrendous at leaving her own sewing to the last minute so at least that is one less thing to fret about.

I'm not quite sure how I will feel about the party.  I am so pleased to be going and it is a new departure to be attending on my own.  (Ben and Tom could come with me, but I think they have other commitments!)  It will not be as difficult as I think, I am sure, as I shall be among friends and it is Nikky's special day which we really want to celebrate.  So..........best foot forward, make-up on, get out there and hit the town!

Have a lovely party I'm sure you'll look great in your dress with your new svelt shape! Every sympathy with the bureaucracy, it is doubly upsetting when it's part of a bereavment-I'm still trying to sort out my pension and I've only lost my temper on one of the innumerable phone calls!Joan Hxx

I wish I was surprised to hear about the bureaucracy but sadly I'm not. I hope this hasn't left you stuck without a car, whilst they sort their paperwork out.

I hope you enjoy the party.

Hi Sally, please dont feel I have been ignoring you but I have tried to pop in. Either your drive is full of cars or the clio is missing! Relieved to hear the dress is almost finished and that you are keeping busy with friends.

It's tough, but I know you, and a big smile will appear come what may! Just have a lovely time - you will feel relaxed and among friends, that can only be the bestest way forward. You looked absolutely smashing the other day - and the service was just as the page said - thanksgiving. Lots of love, Helen x
